Come and create a beautiful material banner to celebrate 100 years of women being given the power to vote.

We will design a banner to celebrate Suffragettes and Feminists in the London Borough of Camden and will march with it during the national event Processions which will take place on 10th June.

You do not need any prior experience to join the workshop.

Please bring any scraps of material you have at home.

We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits, and will break for lunch at 1pm - 2pm.

The workshop on Saturday 9th June has been scheduled to enable us to finish the banner ready for the procession the following day. Attendance to this 2nd day is not a requirement, but we'd love you to come if you can.

The completed banner will be displayed along with others at our exhibition - A Stone's Throw From Westminster: Suffragettes and Other Feminists in Camden. Please see youcaring.com/SuffrageArts to support our work and find out more.

Artichoke, the organisers of Processions, will give each participant a large purple, green or white scarf to wear so people don’t need to worry about costume. You also can participate as part of a group with a banner, bring your own banner or pennant, or come without a banner. All equally welcome.

SuffrageArts Camden are keen to display lots of banners – Camden especially, but also others – as part of the exhibition A Stone’s Throw from Westminster at Holborn Library. If any groups or individuals are making their own and would be happy to have them included in the exhibition, we’d love to hear from you: suffragearts@gmail.com !

This workshop has been kindly supported by Heritage Lottery Fund and Camden Vox, and will be delivered by Digital Drama in association with Suffrage Arts.

If you're unable to attend the banner making but would like to march with us on the procession, we'd love you to join us. Please email suffragearts@gmail.com
