2017 sees the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act (1967) which introduced the partial decriminalisation of same sex relationships in England and Wales via an act of Parliament.

Throughout the year Camden will host a wide range of events, screenings, exhibitions, talks and online articles to explore, celebrate and reflect upon the history of LGBTQ+ culture, activism, societal shifts and legal and cultural breakthroughs, and to look towards the future in this ever changing social and cultural landscape.

tarq
This burning land belongs to you
Camden Kalā and TARQ are proud to present “This Burning Land Belongs to You.” This exhibition shows the works of artists Ronny Sen, Rithika Merchant and Soghra Khurasani. Each artist makes work about the India of today, highlighting and examining its contemporary moment. Through printmaking, photography and painting each artist reflects on the land, on how domestic and international conflicts complicate our relationship with the ground on which we live.

A film screening of The Pass at The Camden Centre
The Camden Arts and Tourism Team presents a screening of The Pass as part of the Camden Flux programme 2017. The event will be a celebration and discussion of gay men in football. The night will consist of a screening of The Pass, which is about a 19-year-old footballer who comes out in a famous London Football Club. The film will be followed by a panel discussion of gay men coming out in football and the stigma attached to this issue. Click here for tickets and more information!
