This six-week course provides the participants with a solid overview of contemporary art and an understanding of the main artists and themes explored between 1970 and 2000. Lectures and guided visits are led by Dr James Hicks, Art Historian and Consultant Lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

27 September: An Overview of Contemporary Art

4 October: 1970’s: Feminist Art and New Media

11 October: Guided gallery visit (Thursday morning)

18 October: 1980’s: The New York Scene

TERM BREAK: 25 OCTOBER

1 November: 1990’s: The Young British Artists

8 November: Guided gallery visit (Thursday morning)
