UCL Special Collections is part of the University’s Library Services and it takes care of rare books, manuscripts and archives.  It is one of the largest Special Collections in the South of England and holds over 600,000 items.

The collection includes fine examples of medieval manuscripts, early printed books, significant holdings of 18th century works and highly important 19th and 20th century collections of personal papers, archival material, and literature.

These items cover a vast number of subject areas.  From the Latin American archives to the alternative press collection, the George Orwell Archive to the Dante Collection or the Institute of Education archives – each of these is just a drop in the ocean!

UCL Special Collections' events offer a chance to see some of these collections, hear talks about them and enjoy further interpretation (exhibitions, art, performances).
