Artists Flora Parrott (London) and Gustavo Ferro (São Paulo) will launch Camden’s summer Arts Programme, Camden Sentido, with their exhibition ‘When I have finished in here I will speed back up again’. Opening on 14th June at Camden Market the exhibition is free for visitors and open till 17th June.
In March this year the artists met virtually over WhatsApp while walking around their respective cities. Each artist described what they saw as they walked, from the insignificant details to the monumental and iconic architecture of São Paulo and London. The exhibition of work extends the ideas of navigation and encounter that occur when negotiating ones way around a place.
Flora Parrott said “mobile signals were lost and batteries ran out – our communication broke down: conversations overlapped or we dropped into monologues. Out of this disjointed communication emerged a profound encounter, our shared sense of an intangible collaboration and connection between our two home cities. The symmetry of our pauses as we waited for the other to respond allowed us to rediscover the places and the spaces which we inhabit.”
More about Camden Sentido

Camden Sentido is about our senses (sentidos in Portuguese) and the way we experience the environment. It will link together the spirit of Brazil with the spirit of Camden through the sounds, smells, tastes, sights and feelings that connect them.
Camden Market will be home to a central programme which includes performances, gigs, talks, exhibitions and workshops by partners including Central Saint Martin’s, Wembley to Soweto Foundation, Mais Um Discos, Camden Tour Guides and The Hospital Club.
