There are nine Camden public libraries conveniently located in all areas of the Borough, from the North, Highgate, Swiss Cottage, West Hampstead and Kilburn, then to Kentish Town, and Queens Crescent, down to Camden Town, and finishing up at Pancras Square and Holborn in the South.
All Camden libraries have a range of great free offers: wi-fi, internet for library members and pleasant spaces to browse up to date book collections. If you want to chill, or meet with friends, there are cafés at Pancras Square and Swiss Cottage, where there is an also an art gallery. For your up-to-date information needs, there are online and hard copy newspapers and magazines, study and recreation space for adults and for young people and subject collections to reflect your interests.
If you are looking for action there is a great range of regular activities for everyone, including Baby Bounces and Rhyme Times (for parents and carers with children under five,) reading groups and author events. If you are looking for support, there is help for CV writing, for job searching and even help with tax, IT classes, and social clubs for the over 50s. If you are a parent and want to get your child reading, then come along to the library and get them a ticket - you can join from birth.
Every summer Camden libraries run an annual Summer Reading Challenge for primary aged children. The Challenge is a proven way of getting children to enjoy reading and improve their reading levels.
If you want to use the library and stay at home, there are free online resources available where you can browse the collections, as well as renew and reserve your library items: more information here.
Camden libraries also have a fantastic range of local history resources, for historical researchers or anyone interested in where they live, in the Local Studies and Archives Centre based at Holborn Library. The Centre contains over 200,000 items on the history of the Borough and aims to keep anything that helps reflect life in Camden past and present.
