2016 was an exciting year for Swiss Cottage Gallery. Featuring an international collaboration with PIVO gallery in Brazil, the all-women traveling group show Tall Talles, a highly succesfull edition of Open Open show and an exploratory, locally organized Action Potential show, this year's programme showed diversity, inclusion and guts.
Riso e Lágrima não tem sotaque / Laughter and Tears Have No Accent
As part of Camden Council’s annual arts programme, Camden Sentido, three Brazilian artists were invited by PIVÔ, an art gallery in São Paulo, to take part in an inaugural international exchange project. Swiss Cottage Gallery plays host to these international artists while PIVÔ hosted Frieze Art Fair (based in Camden every October) during this year’s São Paulo Biennale, all as part of Camden Sentido’s wider programme.
Tall Tales: women artists’ playful exploration of the human experience
Tall Tales was a national tour of 17 international women visual artists who playfully use storytelling techniques in the making of their work. Tall Tales was presented in London across venues Swiss Cottage Library, Gallery, Tavistock Clinic and Freud Museum London.
Open Open 2016
Each year, Swiss Cottage Gallery opens its doors to the public with their Open Open gallery programme, inviting budding artists, enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals from anywhere and any age to bring along a piece of art to be hung for a “salon style” exhibition.
