The Great Get Together will be taking place across the UK on June 16th to 18th, 2017.
This year in line with the UK/India year of culture 2017 our festival Camden Kalā shines a spotlight on and celebrates India’s vibrant heritage both within Camden and beyond.
Creativity and Wellbeing week is back and, as always, Camden is host to a great variety of associated events! You can find the full programme here but we’ve rounded up some highlights happening in Camden during the week (12 - 18 June 2017).
In Spring 2017, rarely displayed artworks from the Camden Art Collection were 3D-printed to provide a new way of looking at this fascinating collection. These 3D prints formed a ‘Museum in a Box’ which went on tour to Camden’s libraries and Great Ormond Street Hospital. During workshops children and their families could touch the 3D models and listen to artists’ audio interpretations of each object. The combination of the objects and audio then inspired stories, poems and sounds in response to the collection. Local resident Angela shares her experience of taking part in the Museum in a Box workshops with her son Lorenzo.
To celebrate the rich cultural exchange between India and the UK, we are launching Project Paisley as part of Camden Kalã and inviting communities and visitors of all ages to take part in designing a unique Paisley pattern for Camden.
Key artworks from the Camden Art Collection were 3D-printed to produce a 'Museum in a Box' which toured to libraries across Camden and Great Ormond Street Hospital in April 2017 and are now part of the exhibition 'Points of Contact: The Camden Art Collection Unboxed' at Swiss Cottage Gallery.
We are proud to be redefining what it means to be baby and child friendly. Gone are the days when a cramped changing table in the female toilets or a half-portion of an adult meal were sufficient. The savvy parent with some time to spare and pounds to spend deserves, and expects, so much more. We’ve come up with a list of 10 of our favourite Baby Points in the borough of Camden. These businesses may not tick every box, but their ethos and attitude towards parents is key to their success. They are broadly inclusive, forward thinking, open minded, innovative and give parents an environment that allows them to enjoy a time out with their children unapologetically.
