#Windrush2024 in Camden

Camden’s Windrush story is one which stands on the shoulders of pioneers such as David Pitt, Baron of Hampstead and Claudia Jones whose activism and campaigning shaped UK multiculturalism. Our borough is home to a generation of Windrush children; innovators, creatives, artists, musicians and disruptors who have influenced the face of modern and contemporary Britain, notable names include Jazzie B, Zak Ove, Akala, Miss Dynamite and Kingsley Ben-Adir. 22nd June 2024 marked the 76th anniversary of the arrival of HMS Windrush.

For Windrush 2024, we brought you a season of digital content and events. We delivered the second annual Pitt Lecture with The British Museum. At The Homecoming Celebration you could explore music, food, arts and crafts of Caribbean culture at our special Windrush Day celebration.
