At Home In My Saree, a space designed exclusively for LGBTQIA+ South Asian people: an intimate session, part of the You Can Sit With Us exhibition, focusing on play, imagination, and creative saree styling!

You will delve into the significance of the saree, as well as personal histories and connections to this beautiful garment. While playing with experimental draping styles, you'll explore how to express being at home in the saree.

Come dressed in your favourite outfit! Bring your own saree or use the ones provided. Come in whatever you’d like to style. Some traditional saree blouses will be available and there will be opportunity to explore how t-shirts, waistcoats, blazers, blouses and all kinds of tops can be styled with a saree. A selection of costume jewellery will also be available.

The workshop will culminate in a collaborative songwriting session, where we will create, and perform a collective song.
