In celebration of Chinese New Year, we are delighted to showcase contemporary Lingnan paintings from three masterful artists: Philip Chan, KC Chan and Desmond Chung.
Philip Chan, KC Chan and Desmond Chung all learnt from the Chinese painting master, Mr. SK Chiu, in Hong Kong. Philip and KC were Mr. Chiu’s earlier students in the 60s and 70s, while Desmond in the 00s.
Their style is contemporary Lingnan, a concept which initiated in southern China in the revolutionary period of the late 19th / early 20th centuries and influenced by Western and Japanese art at that time, but Chinese at heart. They enjoy painting a wide range of subjects – birds and flowers, animals and figures, insects and fish, sceneries and landscapes.
Philip resides in San Francisco and has exhibited extensively in the US, Canada, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. KC and Desmond are based in the UK and are tutors of the UK Chinese Brush Painters Society. Desmond is also an artist of the Lloyd’s Art Group and has exhibited in the Group’s annual exhibitions.
Their exhibition also showcases selected works of distinguished guests from the UK Chinese Brush Painters Society.
Please join Philip Chan, KC Chan and Desmond Chung at the private view of the exhibition on Wednesday 8 January from 7.30 to 9.30pm. It is free to attend, and everyone is welcome.
