Black History Season Launch

We launched in style!

The launch was delivered in partnership with Black Owned London (BOLO) as part of BOLO Fest – a sensational celebration of Black culture, entrepreneurship, and community.

Held at the Samsung KX building located in Coal Drops Yard the evening was hosted by Josette Bushell-Mingo OBE. There were powerful performances from Impact Dance UK and One Drum Africa. Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Young People and Culture introduced the evening.

We gathered for the libation ceremony by Mr Quaye, heard tunes from DJ Linett Kamala, listened to The Deputy Mayor of Camden, Samata Khatoon’s speech and Stelar Rey sang ‘Is This Love’ by Bob Marley, with everyone on their feet.

Alex and Martin from BOLO hosted an interactive Black British History quiz on the borough. There were Black Business pop-ups from Camden Black History Group, the Anti-Apartheid Legacy Trust and Explore Africa.

We are loudly and proudly celebrating Black culture in Camden and the UK. Running through to December, this Black History Season promises to be our BIGGEST and BEST programme yet.
